Macmillan Science

Macmillan Science is a six-level primary science course designed to meet the needs of international learners, which bridges the gap between mainstream curriculum learning and CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning). Building on practical experience and investigation, the course follows current best practice in science education and is written by leading authors of primary science materials in the UK. Each level promotes a modern, student-centered approach to science learning with clearly structured lessons and carefully graded activities and exercises, guiding students to develop a sound framework of scientific knowledge, understanding and skills.

A comprehensive syllabus structured in curriculum topics ensures knowledge of the key areas is built up gradually and thoroughly, using graded language suitable to children's reading age.

A wide variety of paper-and-pencil exercises, discussion topics and suggestions for group work promote interactive learning.

Topical contexts and issues such as healthy eating, pollution, global warming and renewable energy are examined in depth.

Key Word boxes highlight difficult vocabulary and are explained in an extensive glossary to develop children’s scientific vocabulary and encourage learner independence.

An interactive CD-ROM for each level includes over 100 practice activities, as well as simulated experiments which allow students to try out things that are not possible in the classroom.
