English World

The course combines best-practice methodology with innovative features for the modern classroom, including an interactive Teacher's DVD-ROM for active whole-class learning. Communication is encouraged in the classroom, giving learners confidence in speaking natural English fluently and writing accurately and appropriately for the purpose. Thorough grammar and key language skills work is applied in natural contexts in the real world, through dialogs and cross-curricular material. In addition, the course includes practice of study skills which assist children in developing their proficiency as individual learners.

This ten-level course combines a first language approach to learning English with the needs of young, non-native speakers.

Informative, cross-curricular and cross-cultural content means that students learn about the world through English.

The stories, topics and projects promote social values and citizenship.

Learning to Learn (levels 1-2) and Study Skills (levels 3-4) sections in the Workbook develop learning strategies such as matching, scanning, thinking, sorting and dictionary skills, as well as reading strategies such as sequencing. At levels 5-6, more reading material is adapted from real-life sources, and children learn about the structure of different reading genres, such as plays and newspaper articles.

Grammar Practice Books at each level consolidate students' learning, while projects and portfolios encourage learner independence.

A dictionary with the Pupil's Book helps children to revise and practice the course vocabulary. Definitions in English encourage the use of monolingual dictionaries.
